As your constituent, I’m reaching out to thank you for cosponsoring the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act (TROA) H.R. 4231/S. 1973.
For more than a decade, the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act (TROA) has served as the leading legislative vehicle to improve access to comprehensive obesity care for Medicare beneficiaries. The bill has consistently received bipartisan support each time it has been introduced. In the 118th Congress, TROA advanced further than ever before, signaling growing recognition in Congress of the importance of obesity coverage.
More recently, the administration has taken steps to expand coverage of obesity medications for Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries through the BALANCE Model. However, as program details are developed and implemented, TROA remains the primary way for members of Congress to demonstrate support for lasting improvements in obesity care. We need to continue to increase cosponsors of TROA so it has strong support when it’s time to advance the bill through the legislative process.
We’ve been waiting for over ten years – please take the necessary steps to finally provide this critical coverage and start treating obesity the same as other chronic diseases.
For more information about the status of the bill, please contact Quinn Ritchie with Representative Mike Kelly (PA) at

Thank you for your time and leadership on this important healthcare issue.
